A disappointed salesman of Coca-Cola returned from his assignment to Saudi Arabia.
A friend asked, "Why weren't you successful with the Saudis?"
The salesman explained, "When I got posted, I was very confident that I would make a good sales pitch. But I had a problem. I didn't know how to speak Arabic. So I planned to convey the message through three posters. | 코카콜라 세일즈맨(판매원)이 사우디 아라비아에 판매하러 갔다가 낙심한채 돌아 왔다.
친구 하나가 물었다. "왜, 사우디 사람들에게 실패 당했나?
그 세일즈맨의 설명인즉, "내 그 직책을 맡았을 때, 판매 광고 한번 멋지게 해낼 자신이 꽤나 많았었지. 근데 문제가 하나 있었던 것이, 내가 아랍말을 못하지 않나. 그래서 내 메세지를 3개의 포스터로 만들어 전하려고 계획 했었네. |
First poster : A man lying in the hot desert sand totally exhausted and fainting.
Second poster : The man is drinking Coca-Cola.
Third poster : Our man is now totally refreshed.
And then these posters were pasted all over the place.
"Terrific! That should have worked!" said the friend.
"The hell it should have!" said the salesman. "No one told me they read from right to left!" | 첫번째 포스터는 뜨거운 사막 모래사장에서 완전 녹초되어 누어서 기력을 잃고 있는 사람을 보여 주었네.
두번째 포스터는 코카콜라를 마시는 사람을 보여 주고.
셋째 포스터는 그 친구가 완전히 소생되어 있는 모습을 보여 주었지.
그리고 그 3 포스터를 모든 곳에다 다 부쳤다네.
"멋지네! 그렇다면 성공했어야 하지 않나" 친구가 말했다. "젠장, 성공했어야 하구 말구!" 판매원이 말했다. " 근데, 사우디사람들은 오른쪽에서 왼쪽으로 읽는 다는 것을 아무도 내게 말해 주지 않았다네." |
